











PDB files often provide very interesting information on how proteins are organized in their crystal structure and biological assembly. Here we present a new SAMSON editor that will let you use this information in a few clicks.
The so-called “Symmetry Mate Generator” element helps generate symmetric replicas of a protein based on the information contained in the pdb file. When this editor is selected, widgets appear. Use the mouse wheel to see more or fewer of these widgets. Here is an example with 1BRE:
When the mouse moves over a widget, a preview of the corresponding replica is shown:
By left clicking on a widget, the replica is created. This way, in a few clicks, you can generate a complex structure:
This editor handles CRYST1 (white widgets) and BIOMT (yellow widget) records. Switch from one to the other with the GUI, that appears when you click a second time on the editor icon. Here is an example with 1B5S:
Preview and create all replicas simultaneously by pressing CTRL:
