For molecular modelers, streamlining workflows is crucial, and the right tools can make all the difference. SAMSON Extensions are modular add-ons that enhance the capabilities of the SAMSON molecular design platform. Whether you are looking to add extensions, evaluate their features through trials, subscribe for advanced functionality, or remove unnecessary extensions from your setup, SAMSON Connect makes it straightforward. Here’s how to manage SAMSON Extensions like a pro.
How to Add Free Extensions
Free SAMSON Extensions can be added directly to your SAMSON installation. First, sign in to your account on SAMSON Connect. Navigate to the Marketplace, where you’ll see the available extensions. For any freely available extension, simply click the Add button, and it will be marked as “Added.” Upon restarting SAMSON, the extension will be downloaded and automatically installed.

Evaluate Extensions with Trial Access
If you’re unsure about subscribing to an extension, SAMSON Connect provides a hassle-free trial option. To request a trial, click the Request trial button available for eligible extensions. No credit card is required. Once activated, the extension will be marked as “Trying.” During this trial period, you can fully explore the extension’s features to assess its value for your molecular modeling needs.
Here’s an example of an extension set for a trial:

Subscribing to Extensions
For advanced capabilities, you might consider subscribing to specific extensions. You can choose between monthly and yearly plans, with discounted academic subscriptions available if you qualify. Subscribing is simple: click the Subscribe button for your desired plan. Once subscribed, the extension will be marked as “Subscribed” and integrated into your SAMSON installation upon the next restart.

Removing Unnecessary Extensions
Keeping your workspace organized is equally important. To remove a free extension, sign in to your account on SAMSON Connect and navigate to the Marketplace or Account > Settings. Locate the extension you wish to remove, hover over its Added button (which will change to Remove), and then click Remove. Restart SAMSON to complete the uninstallation process. Removed extensions remain listed under “View My Extensions” in case you want to add them later.

Manage Subscriptions and Extensions with Ease
SAMSON Connect provides a dedicated My Subscriptions page where you can monitor and manage your active subscriptions. Navigate to the Account > Settings > View My Subscriptions section to make adjustments or review your subscription details. Restarting SAMSON after any changes ensures synchronization with your installation.

By taking full advantage of these features, molecular modelers can efficiently tailor their SAMSON platform, focus on their research, and ensure that only the most relevant tools are part of their workspace. To learn more and find step-by-step details, visit the SAMSON documentation.
