For molecular modelers, efficiency and flexibility are key in navigating complex modeling projects. One common pain point lies in extending software capabilities without constant reinstallation or cumbersome processes. Fortunately, SAMSON Extensions offer an elegant solution to this challenge, making it easier than ever to customize your molecular design workflow.
What Are SAMSON Extensions?
SAMSON Extensions act like add-ons or plugins for the SAMSON molecular design platform, enabling users to access specialized tools without the need to reinvent the wheel. Whether you need tools for simulations, visualization, calculations, or analysis, the extensive SAMSON Extensions Marketplace is your go-to resource.
How to Access Extensions
The process starts by visiting the Marketplace from SAMSON Connect. Once signed in, you can browse all available extensions. These are categorized to help you find what you need, with clear descriptions, author information, and compatibility details. Windows, macOS, and Linux users can all find suitable options.
Extensions are either:
- Included with your current plan
- Freely available (no cost)
- Available through a subscription model
Adding Extensions
Adding extensions is streamlined. For free extensions, simply click the Add button. The extension will be labeled as “Added” in your account. On restarting SAMSON, the platform will automatically download and install the selected extension.

Exploring Subscriptions and Trials
For extensions available via subscription, you can test them during a trial period—no credit card needed. Just press the Request trial button, and the extension will be marked as “Trying” in your account. If satisfied, you can subscribe to a monthly or yearly plan. Academic users can even benefit from special academic plans.

Once subscribed, your extension will display as “Subscribed,” and it will be part of your toolkit upon restarting SAMSON.

Managing and Removing Extensions
If you need to remove an added or subscribed extension, simply head to Marketplace or Account > Settings. Navigate to “View my extensions,” select the relevant extension, hover over the “Added” button (which changes to “Remove”), and click.

The flexibility of SAMSON allows you to manage your subscriptions and extensions effortlessly, ensuring you maintain a tailored workflow while avoiding unnecessary clutter.
Why SAMSON Extensions Matter
SAMSON Extensions empower molecular modelers to save time and enhance their work quality by integrating purpose-built tools directly into their workflows. Rather than dealing with standalone software for each task, SAMSON centralizes everything you need, from rapid calculations to visually intuitive designs.
