Streamlining Collaboration Through SAMSON Document Sharing

Effective collaboration lies at the heart of innovative molecular modeling projects. Yet, one common pain point for molecular modelers is the lack of seamless mechanisms to share and manage crucial project files with collaborators while maintaining control over permissions. If you’ve encountered this frustration, SAMSON Connect’s document sharing feature offers an elegantly simple solution.

Why Sharing Documents Matters

Whether you’re working with global research groups or multi-disciplinary teams, sharing molecular models, datasets, or project-related files effectively is critical. Beyond file transfer, ensuring proper access permissions and facilitating ongoing collaboration can be a cumbersome challenge, particularly when juggling multiple projects. SAMSON Connect addresses these concerns by enabling you to share documents efficiently, while offering flexibility and control over visibility and access rights.

How to Share Documents on SAMSON Connect

To share your documents, navigate to the Home > Publish option within SAMSON Connect. You’ll be prompted with a straightforward dialog box to upload your file. Here, you can specify:

  • Name: Provide a clear, descriptive name for your document.
  • Description: Add context about the file’s content or its purpose.
  • Visibility level: Choose from three options to customize document access:
    • Public: Accessible to everyone, with editing restricted to those granted rights.
    • Hidden: Available only to individuals with the link, allowing the same editing restrictions.
    • Restricted: Accessing or editing requires explicit rights.

Once you finalize these details, click Publish document. Your document will not only be uploaded to SAMSON Connect – Documents, but you’ll also receive a direct link to share it immediately with collaborators.

Managing Shared Documents

As your project evolves, new collaborators may join or existing collaborators may require different levels of access. This is where SAMSON Connect’s management tools shine. Through your SAMSON Connect account, you can view a centralized list of documents you’ve shared and those shared with you, as well as modify access permissions with ease.

Enhancing Collaboration

SAMSON Connect’s approach to document sharing goes beyond just uploading files. By integrating features like controlled visibility, user-based access rights, and central document management, this tool encourages smoother collaboration across multidisciplinary, often geographically dispersed teams. It ensures that all stakeholders in your project remain in sync without compromising on security or control.
