Why Moving Labels Matters
When labels are created in SAMSON, they are placed at the geometric center of nodes in the viewport plane by default. This positioning often needs fine-tuning to avoid overlap with other elements, enhance readability, or align annotations for a polished presentation. The good news? SAMSON provides versatile tools to move labels easily and customize their placement as needed.
How to Move Labels in SAMSON
Here are three effective techniques for moving labels to their ideal positions:
- Adjust the viewport offset: Select a label and use the Inspector to change its viewport offset. This lets you control the label’s position relative to its associated nodes quickly.
- Use move editors in the viewport: Set the Selection filter to “Labels” and activate a move editor, such as the Displace editor. You can access it through the icon (
) or by pressing the D key. This intuitive method lets you drag and reposition labels directly in the Viewport for precise placement. 
- Use the document view: You can also select a label in the Document view, then apply move editors to reposition it. Like the second method, this provides excellent control over label placement.
