Working with molecular modeling platforms can be a rewarding experience—until your workspace becomes cluttered or you struggle to enable the specific tools you need. For users of SAMSON, a key challenge is often knowing how to effectively manage SAMSON Extensions: small, modular tools that empower your molecular design workflows.
Whether you’re analyzing proteins, visualizing chemical reactions, or simulating complex dynamics, having the right Extensions at the right time is essential. Let’s walk through how to manage your Extensions effectively using SAMSON Connect.
Discover Extensions in the Marketplace
Extensions can be found in the Marketplace of SAMSON Connect, where they’re organized by functionality, operating system support, and subscription plan. Clicking on an Extension provides full details about what it does and what configurations it supports.

Adding Free Extensions
If an Extension is freely available, signed-in users simply click Add to include it. Once added, the Extension will appear as Added in your library.

Next time you restart SAMSON, the Extension will download and install automatically.
Trying and Subscribing to Paid Extensions
Some Extensions are available via subscription. But before committing, you can usually try them at no cost for a limited time. Just click Request trial—no credit card is needed.

Trial Extensions show up as Trying, helping you track which tools are on test drive.

To subscribe to an Extension, click Subscribe and select a monthly or yearly plan. If you’re affiliated with an academic institution, discounted academic plans are available.

Removing Extensions
Need to streamline your toolkit? Removing an Extension is just as simple. Sign in to SAMSON Connect, navigate to Account > Settings > View my extensions, go to the Extension you wish to remove, hover above the Added label until it turns into Remove, and then click it.

When SAMSON is restarted, the Extension will be automatically uninstalled.
Managing Subscriptions
To handle all your active trials and subscriptions, visit Account > Settings > View my subscriptions. There, you can review, renew, or cancel your subscriptions.

Even after removal, Extensions remain listed in your account so you can easily re-add them later if needed. This ensures that your work environment is fully customizable—based on your current projects and evolving needs.
