For many molecular modelers and scientists, customizing your molecular design environment is essential. Whether you’re simulating proteins, docking ligands, or running cloud-based structure predictions, adapting your tools to fit your workflow is critical. That’s where SAMSON Extensions come into play.
SAMSON Connect offers a powerful mechanism for adding, trying, subscribing to, and removing Extensions (also known as modules) in just a few clicks. Let’s walk through this process so you can make the most out of your research setup—without the hassle.
Quick Start: Finding Extensions
To access the Modules Marketplace, head to the Marketplace section of SAMSON Connect. There, you’ll find a variety of modules ranging from visualization tools to plugins for specific simulation engines.

Clicking an extension opens its detailed page, providing information about its authors, supported operating systems, compatibility with different SAMSON versions, and installation options.
Installing a Free Extension
When you’re signed into your SAMSON Connect account, adding a free extension is as simple as clicking the Add button. The extension will then appear as “Added.”

Restarting SAMSON completes the installation process automatically.
Trying or Subscribing to Paid Extensions
Not sure if a subscription-based module is right for your research? You can request a trial—no credit card required.

During the trial period, the extension is marked as “Trying.”>

Once convinced, you can officially subscribe to an extension. Academic users can benefit from special academic plans.

Removing Extensions
Changed focus or simply want to declutter? Removing an extension is easy. Sign in, navigate to your account menu, select View my extensions, hover over the Added button, and click Remove.

Managing Subscriptions
To keep track of your paid plans, simply go to Account > Settings > View my subscriptions. You’ll land on the My Subscriptions page where you can monitor or cancel your subscriptions with clarity.

Even removed extensions remain visible in your profile in case you’d like to reinstall them later.
Mastering extension management in SAMSON means spending less time wrestling with settings and more time focusing on your science. These modular tools adapt to your evolving needs, giving you flexibility without added workload.
