Running cloud-based simulations for molecular modeling can save both time and computational resources, but keeping track of jobs—starting, updating, downloading results—can become overwhelming. If you often feel like your workflows are being stretched thin across tools and platforms, the Job Manager in SAMSON can help you regain control.
Job Manager is a centralized interface that lets you manage all cloud-based computational tasks in SAMSON from a single place. Whether you’re running protein structure predictions with AlphaFold or molecular dynamics with GROMACS, everything from job launch to result retrieval is done within a visual, intuitive panel.
How to Access the Job Manager
To open the Job Manager, click on Interface > Job manager from the main SAMSON window. Once opened, it provides an organized layout of all jobs you’ve launched in the cloud.

What You Can Do with Job Manager
- Create Jobs: Launch new computational jobs directly from SAMSON when using compatible extensions.
- Run and Control: Start, pause, or stop jobs from the central panel as needed.
- Track Progress: Monitor job status and view detailed logs to stay informed at all times.
- Review Details: Click on any job and view its name, status, parameters, and other details on the right-hand panel.

Take Notes and Stay Organized
You can assign custom names and notes to each job. These notes are automatically synchronized with your SAMSON Connect account, making it easier to identify jobs later or communicate with collaborators.

Download Results with a Double Click
Once a job is finished, double-click on it to download all associated files. This simplifies the handoff from cloud computations to local analysis.

More Options with Context Menus
Right-click on a job to access a context menu that lets you quickly view local files, access remote cloud files, or open the job on SAMSON Connect for collaboration or sharing.

Being able to run powerful simulations in the cloud is valuable, but without something like the Job Manager, it’s easy for outputs, files, and results to become fragmented. By consolidating cloud interactions inside SAMSON, Job Manager minimizes friction and leaves you more time to focus on your science.
