For many molecular modelers, sharing their work effectively while keeping track of collaborations and maintaining a personal scientific identity is a challenge. Between papers, simulations, and cross-institutional projects, it’s difficult to both stay visible and control how and with whom your research is shared.
SAMSON Connect offers a quietly powerful solution: customizable public profiles.
Why Create a Public Profile?
Just like GitHub for coders or ResearchGate for scientists, your SAMSON Connect public profile is a hub for your scientific presence. You get a permanent URL, a public handle (first come, first served!), and the ability to link to your publications, simulations, scripts, GitHub repositories, and more.
What’s Included?
- Public handle: Choose your preferred username before someone else grabs it.
- Extended biography: Use Markdown to write a rich scientific bio of up to 20,000 characters. Include links, images, headers, and even publication links.
- Social media links: Add your LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), GitHub, and ResearchGate profiles.
This lets collaborators not only learn about your work but also access your shared documents, groups, and jobs directly via your profile. If you’re already using SAMSON for running simulations with AlphaFold, GROMACS, or other tools, this quickly becomes a central portal to your research activity.
How to Set It Up
To edit your profile, log in to SAMSON Connect and go to your User menu > Profile. You’ll see a simple editor for modifying your handle, adding a bio, and linking your social media accounts.

You can format your biography using Markdown, which means you can include bulleted lists, bold text, links, images, and even section headers. This makes it easier to create a readable and useful presentation of your scientific journey and current focus.
Visibility Options
Your profile can be kept private or made public. If it’s public, it’s visible on SAMSON Connect along with the content you choose to share—your documents, jobs, and group memberships. Here’s an example of what a profile can look like:

Customizing your scientific identity is an understated yet useful way to strengthen collaborations, help others find and use your work, and make sharing simulation results more seamless.
Why Now? Because handles are unique. If you want a simple, memorable one—now’s the time to reserve it.
