For molecular modelers collaborating on complex projects, centralizing and securely managing documents while maintaining control over sharing can be a pain point. The SAMSON Connect platform offers a powerful solution to this problem, making it easier than ever to upload, share, and manage documents with colleagues or groups, whether privately or publicly.
The Power of Document Management
SAMSON Connect enables users to upload and share an unlimited number of documents (with size limits depending on your SAMSON plan). Importantly, you have complete control over who can access or edit these documents. Whether you’re working on a multi-institutional research project or privately organizing your molecular studies, SAMSON makes teamwork seamless.
Here’s a step-by-step overview of the process:
Publishing Your Documents
To upload and share a document:
- Click on Home > Publish in SAMSON.
- In the dialog window that appears, fill out the document name and description.
- Select the document visibility. Options include:
- Public: Open to everyone for access (editing requires rights).
- Hidden: Accessible only via a shared link (editing requires rights).
- Restricted: Only accessible to users or groups with dedicated access rights.
Once completed, click Publish Document. Your document will now appear on the SAMSON Connect – Documents page, and a shareable link will be provided for easy distribution.

Managing Your Documents
After publishing, SAMSON Connect provides robust tools to manage your documents efficiently:
- Access all your uploaded or shared documents by navigating to the Documents section in your user menu on SAMSON Connect.
- If you are a document owner, you can modify the document’s visibility (Public, Hidden, or Restricted) or add/remove access rights for specific users or groups.

To grant access rights, simply search for individuals by username or email or share access with entire groups:

You can even grant access to predefined collaboration groups that you create, making collaboration across projects easier than ever:

Achieving More Together
These tools not only centralize document management but also ensure that you maintain control over visibility and permissions, ensuring data security and preventing unauthorized changes. By integrating shared document features with the collaborative framework of SAMSON Connect, you can facilitate teamwork without the headaches traditionally involved in file sharing.
