If you’re working in molecular modeling or computational chemistry, your simulation tools can quickly become a digital jungle. Between installing plugins, keeping track of licenses, and updating packages, managing your modeling environment can be more time-consuming than the modeling itself.
This is where the subscription and extension management system on SAMSON Connect aims to simplify the process. Whether you’re experimenting with AlphaFold, running GROMACS simulations, or just exploring new visualization toolkits, SAMSON provides a streamlined way to try, subscribe to, and manage modular features called SAMSON Extensions.
Try Before You Subscribe
One common pain point for modelers is knowing which extension will truly help before committing a budget to it. SAMSON Connect addresses this with a trial mechanism. Extensions available by subscription allow you to click Request trial and explore their capabilities before purchasing—no credit card required.

During the trial period, the extension is marked as Trying, so you always know what you’re currently evaluating:

Flexible Subscription Options
Once you’re ready to subscribe, there are monthly and yearly plans available for most extensions. If you’re affiliated with an academic institution, you can opt for an academic plan as well. Just click Subscribe on the extension’s page, choose your preferred plan, and you’re set.

Subscribed extensions are clearly marked as Subscribed so there’s never a doubt about what’s active in your system:

Centralized Subscription Management
Another common issue? Forgetting where certain licenses are stored or who controls the billing. With SAMSON Connect, subscription management is centralized in your account settings.
Just navigate to: Account > Settings > View my subscriptions to get an overview of your active plans.

From there, you can modify or cancel your subscriptions and keep your toolkit aligned with your current research needs.
Simplify Your Modeling Workflow
By organizing your tools through SAMSON Connect’s extension marketplace and its built-in trial and subscription system, you avoid clutter and only keep what you actively use. Whether you’re in academia or industry, confidence in your digital modeling setup is just as important as the models themselves.
