Visualizing molecular structures effectively can be a challenging task for molecular modelers. One simple yet powerful tool to enhance presentations is the Appear animation available in SAMSON’s Animator.

What Is the Appear Animation?

The Appear animation works by progressively altering the transparency of nodes, allowing for smooth visual transitions. This animation is particularly useful for structural models, visual models, meshes, and labels. For nodes that do not have transparency attributes, the Appear animation behaves similarly to the Show animation.

Interestingly, individual atoms and bonds do not possess a transparency attribute. However, their parent structural models do, meaning you'll need to apply the animation to the structural models themselves if transparency effects are desired.

Step-by-Step: Applying the Appear Animation

  1. Select the nodes you want to make progressively appear.
  2. Open the Animation panel in the Animator.
