Simplifying Molecular Modeling with SAMSON Extensions

Molecular modeling encompasses a range of challenges, from designing complex systems to running intricate simulations. For professionals in this field, accessing the right tools for specific needs can be daunting. Fortunately, SAMSON Connect offers a unique solution through its comprehensive library of SAMSON Extensions, making it easier to customize and expand SAMSON for optimal productivity.

What Are SAMSON Extensions?

SAMSON Extensions are modular tools designed to enhance the capabilities of the SAMSON software. Whether you’re simulating chemical reactions, analyzing molecular structures, or running cloud computations, extensions provide specialized functionalities tailored to your needs. These add-ons ensure that you can adapt your digital environment effortlessly, without being limited by a one-size-fits-all solution.

Where to Find and Manage Extensions

The Marketplace on SAMSON Connect acts as a hub for extensions. From there, you can access all available SAMSON Extensions, including:

  • Freely available extensions
  • Extensions included in your SAMSON Plan
  • Extensions available through subscription

You can explore each extension’s detail page to learn about its features, authors, operating system compatibility, and supported SAMSON versions. This transparency ensures you download tools optimized for your setup. Below is an example of extensions available in the Marketplace:

How to Add or Try an Extension

Adding an extension to your system is straightforward. For freely available extensions, simply log in to your SAMSON Connect account, pick an extension from the Marketplace, and click the Add button. After restarting SAMSON, the extension will automatically be downloaded and installed. Here’s how an “Added” extension appears:

Why Extensions Matter for Molecular Modelers

The modular nature of SAMSON Extensions addresses a key pain point for molecular modelers: the need to seamlessly adapt software to specific workflows. Instead of searching for multiple external tools or enduring the limitations of rigid software, you can create a highly tailored environment within SAMSON itself. This flexibility shortens learning curves, boosts efficiency, and empowers users with tools designed for their unique projects.
