This animation is particularly useful for creating clean and smooth molecule presentations, as it shifts nodes from fully transparent to fully opaque, step by step. Adding the Appear Animation

Using the Appear animation is straightforward. Start by selecting the nodes you want to reveal. These could be any nodes with transparency attributes, such as structural models, visual models, meshes, or labels. Note, however, that individual atoms and bonds do not possess a transparency attribute directly. Instead, you can apply the Appear animation to the structural models that contain these atoms and bonds to achieve the desired effect.

Next, open the Animation panel in the Animator interface and double-click on the Appear animation effect. SAMSON will automatically create 4 keyframes for you:

  • Between keyframes 1 and 2: The nodes will remain fully transparent.
  • Between keyframes 2 and 3: Transparency decreases progressively, and the nodes begin to appear.
  • Between keyframes 3 and 4: The nodes become fully opaque, with no transparency.

You can adjust the timing or position of these keyframes to customize the appearance effect. This flexibility allows you to create exactly the kind of dynamic visualization your molecular modeling demands.

Fine-Tuning Transparency with Easing Curves

For even greater control, you can modify how the transparency changes between frames by adjusting the Easing curve. Easing curves let you define the interpolation of parameters over time, giving you creative freedom to smooth or accentuate transparency shifts depending on your needs.
