Molecular modelers often juggle multiple tools to simulate, visualize, or analyze molecular systems. One common frustration is having to manually install, update, or deactivate plug-ins or packages when testing new workflows or optimizing performance. If you use SAMSON, there’s a streamlined way to manage your modules—called SAMSON Extensions—directly from the SAMSON Connect Marketplace.
In this guide, we’ll walk through how to efficiently try, add, subscribe to, or remove SAMSON Extensions. Whether you want to explore a new tool without commitment or manage your current suite, these steps can make a big difference in your daily molecular modeling tasks.
Accessing the SAMSON Marketplace
You can reach the Marketplace by signing in to SAMSON Connect and navigating to the Marketplace section. There, you’ll find an interface listing all available extensions with descriptions, supported platforms, compatibility details, and more:

Adding Free Extensions
Many extensions are freely available to all users. Simply click the Add button to include a module into your SAMSON installation:

After it’s added, it will be marked as Added in the interface:

The module will be installed automatically the next time you start SAMSON—no additional download steps required.
Trying Subscription-Based Extensions
Extensions available via subscription can be tried before committing. To test one, click Request Trial (no credit card info is needed):

Once active, the extension appears as Trying in the Marketplace view:

Subscribing to an Extension
If you decide to use an extension long-term, you can subscribe to monthly, yearly, or academic plans. Click the Subscribe button and follow the steps.

Subscribed modules are marked accordingly:

Removing Extensions
Need to declutter your workspace or test different setups? Go to Account > Settings > View my extensions, open the page of the extension you’d like to remove, hover over the Added button, which becomes Remove, and click it:

Managing Subscriptions
To manage your trial and paid subscriptions, head over to Account > Settings > View my subscriptions. There, you’ll see an organized panel for handling upgrades, downgrades, or cancellations:

Removed extensions remain visible in your account so that you can re-add them later if needed.
Less Hassle, More Modeling
Switching between tools and managing licenses manually can slow down your research pace. SAMSON Connect centralizes everything, making it easy to test new ideas, build a custom modeling environment, and adapt your setup as projects evolve. No more digging through folders or reinstalling extensions—everything is cloud-synced and one click away.
