For molecular modelers, customizing software to suit specific workflows often means managing a jungle of plugins and add-ons. Whether it’s downloading, installing, updating, or simply keeping track of versions—plugin management can be time-consuming and error-prone.
SAMSON provides a different solution through its integrated Extensions Marketplace, where users can browse, try, subscribe, and manage SAMSON Extensions with just a few clicks—all from the web. If you’ve ever struggled with finding compatible modules or manually sorting through files, this workflow can save you time and keep your modeling environment clean and organized.
Exploring the Marketplace
By visiting the SAMSON Connect Marketplace, users can explore a growing number of SAMSON Extensions categorized by functionality—from simulations and computations to modeling tools.

Each extension has its own page with helpful information, including the developer, supported platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac), version compatibility with SAMSON, and more. This makes it simple to evaluate whether an extension fits your needs before adding it.
Adding and Managing Extensions
Once signed into your SAMSON Connect account, adding a free extension is a matter of clicking the Add button. Restart SAMSON, and the extension is downloaded and installed automatically—no separate installers or manual configuration required.

Added extensions are clearly marked, and you can manage them from your account settings under View my extensions.

Trying or Subscribing
Interested in a paid SAMSON Extension? Many offer free trial periods that you can activate without entering credit card details. During the trial, the extension is labeled as Trying, giving you a chance to test its capabilities.

If you choose to subscribe, just click the Subscribe button and select a monthly or yearly plan. Users with academic status can access discounted or academic plans.

Removing Extensions and Managing Subscriptions
To remove an extension, revisit its page, hover over the Added button (which will change to Remove), and click it. After restarting SAMSON, the extension is cleanly removed from your installation.

You can also manage subscriptions under your Account > Settings via the View my subscriptions page, which provides a central place to pause, cancel, or review active subscriptions.

Why It Helps
Whether you are testing a new method, preparing complex molecular simulations, or publishing reproducible studies, having reliable control over your modeling tools is essential. The SAMSON Connect Marketplace streamlines an often cumbersome process, letting you focus more on science and less on system maintenance.
