Many molecular modelers using SAMSON often need specific features and tools that go beyond the core installation. These capabilities usually come as SAMSON Extensions—modular add-ons that let you tailor your modeling environment to your specific needs, whether you’re simulating protein folding, analyzing RNA structures, or working with advanced quantum chemistry.
However, managing these extensions—finding the right ones, adding or removing them, and understanding how trials and subscriptions work—can raise practical questions. Here’s an overview to help you build and maintain your ideal modeling setup using SAMSON Connect.
Exploring the Marketplace
The Marketplace on SAMSON Connect is your starting point for discovering new features. It lists all available SAMSON Extensions, categorized by function and availability. Whether you’re looking for cheminformatics tools or structure prediction algorithms, you’ll likely find something relevant.

Adding Extensions
Found a free extension you want to use? Sign in and click Add. Once you see the “Added” label, restart SAMSON. The extension will be automatically downloaded and installed.

Trying or Subscribing to Paid Extensions
Certain extensions are available via subscription but can be tried first without commitment. If a button says Request trial, click it to begin a trial with no credit card required. The extension will then be labeled as “Trying.” If you decide to keep it, you can click Subscribe and choose a monthly or yearly plan. Academic discounts are available for those who qualify.

Removing Extensions
If an extension no longer fits your workflow, removing it is simple. Go to Account > Settings, then View my extensions. Hover over the “Added” button—it will change to “Remove.” Click it, then restart SAMSON to complete the removal process.

Managing Subscriptions
To manage existing subscriptions, go to Account > Settings and select View my subscriptions. From here, you can adjust your plan or cancel ongoing subscriptions. Even after removal, previously added extensions stay visible under your account, so you can re-add them later if desired.
